Individual Questions Research Methodology

WASS strives to organise a number of methodological courses on an annual basis. In addition to the courses, WASS facilitates PhD candidates in finding answers to specific methodological questions that arise from their research.
PhD candidates are offered the possibility to address burning questions about research methodology arising from their research to specialists in the field of quantitative methodoloty and econometrics and specialists in general methodology and qualitative research methods. An individual consultation will only be available for very specific and well-defined issues with regard to methodology of the research and will not replace normal supervision.
- Ivo van der Lans (MCB) can be consulted on issues related to quantitative research methodology.
- Koos Gardebroek (AEP) can be consulted on issues related to econometrics.
- The Research Methodology Group (part of ECS) can be consulted about general methodological issues and questions on quantitative data collection and analysis (contact via Hilde Tobi or Jarl Kampen).
The service is limited to PhD candidates who actually followed the relevant classes or comparable courses (e.g. Research Methodology I: From Topic to Proposal; Quantitative Data Analysis: Multivariate Techniques; Qualitative Data Analysis: Procedures and Strategies; Advanced Econometrics) and possess the necessary basic knowledge to tackle the problem at stake with assitance of the consultant.
The PhD candidate contacts the consultant who will determine whether or not an individual consultation is useful.
